Grow:
A Future-Focused Economy
California does not lack ideas.
It lacks independent leadership willing to act.
Grow is about replacing scarcity politics with an ethos of abundance. An economy that restores dignity, rewards work, and lets Californians share in the prosperity they create.
This is not theory. It is a plan.
Fix What’s Urgent First
Homelessness and wildfires are the two most urgent crises facing California. If we fix housing and fire, we restore safety, dignity, and opportunity for millions of people. Everything else flows from getting these right.
Partisan gridlock has blocked practical solutions for years. Independence breaks that logjam and lets us build what works.
–––
Burn Less. Build More. California does not build enough.
California’s forests are overcrowded with small, fire-prone trees. At the same time, we face a historic housing shortage.
One solution addresses both.
–––
Mass timber.
By thinning forests and turning small-diameter trees into engineered wood, California can reduce wildfire risk, create good-paying jobs, and build affordable housing at speed and scale.
This is not ideological.
It is practical.
Abundance means turning a liability into an asset and solving two crises at once.
___
Dignity, Not Dependency
Unemployment should not mean idleness.
It should mean transition and opportunity.
Today’s system too often says, “You don’t have a job. Here’s a check. Wait.” That erodes skills, confidence, and dignity.
My plan replaces unemployment offices with Employment Hubs, where people get real work and real pay on day one. Fire prevention. Cleaning streets. Building housing. Supporting communities.
Compassion and accountability belong together.
___
Invest in Main Street
California’s economy has tilted too far toward Wall Street. Main Street deserves a stake.
The People’s Portfolio invests public capital in local businesses and infrastructure, with the public sharing in the upside. Not bailouts. Ownership.
That is a return on citizenship.
___
From Scarcity to Abundance
Scarcity politics says nothing can change.
Abundance proves solutions already exist.
Grow means lower costs, restored dignity, and visible results people can trust.
This is how California grows again.
By building together.
Independence leads. Abundance follows.
